North Charleston - I am not sure if the wildlife invading the city from the hills was better or worse than the threat of the natives living in the projects. Scary place back in the late 1990's.

Power Mountain, Nicholas Co - After the MTR work started up there, that place makes Dolly Sods look like a home for "wannabe hillbillies."

Alright, you piqued my interest. Here's what Wikipedia had to say:

Littleton is an unincorporated community in Wetzel County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 207 at the 2000 census, at which time it was a town. The town was disincorporated on 2004-08-03.

As of the census of 2000, there were 207 people, 73 households, and 48 families residing in the town. The population density was 444.0/km² (1,149.1/mi²). There were 98 housing units at an average density of 210.2/km² (544.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.62% White, and 3.38% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48% of the population.

There were 73 households out of which 37.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.0% were married couples living together, 16.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. Looks like a typical Eastern Bloc town before the wall came down... My God.

I just drove through there, the whole time thinking I couldn't leave fast enough. It just had an icky feeling of despair. I couldn't imagine being "trapped" in a place like that.

No wonder meth shooting and pill snorting are the predominant past times in these parts... I'd want to be numb, too.
