Billy Mays has died!

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Damned! I loved the TV show! Television pitchman Billy Mays — who built his fame by appearing on commercials and infomercials promoting household products and gadgets — died Sunday.
Mays, 50, was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla., home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.

I never thought I would see the words "Billy Mays" and "unresponsive" in the same sentence...

Based on certain things I've heard from people in Tampa about Mays (and this was before he died), it wouldn't surprise me at all if a heart attack was the cause of death.

Well... there goes cheap airplane flights....

It was not immediately clear how Billy Mays died. He said he was hit on the head when an airplane he was on made a rough landing Saturday, and his wife, Deborah Mays, told investigators he didn't feel well before he went to bed about 10 p.m. that night.

U.S. Airways confirmed that Mays was among the passengers on a flight that made a rough landing on Saturday afternoon at Tampa International Airport, leaving debris on the runway after apparently blowing its front tires.

Tampa Bay's Fox television affiliate interviewed Mays afterward.

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping," MyFox Tampa Bay quoted him as saying. "It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said linking Mays' death to the landing would "purely be speculation."

I'm expanding the timeframe a bit. One more will bite the dust... soon.

David Carradine
Ed McMahon
Farrah Fawcett
Michael Jackson
Billy Mays

Groups of 3... maybe two groups of three. In which case, someone's yet to meet the grim reaper just yet.

Gale Storm, actress from the 50's, died Saturday at age 87.

I hear Walter Cronkite is not feeling well. Maybe Jerry Lewis? Dick Clark?

From CNN, It looks like Billy's death was due to heart disease and not a bump on the head.

Where in the hell is the link on their damn tweet. #CNNFAIL

Pitchmen has been the show I've enjoyed the most in quite some time....I've laughed out loud multiple times with each show. Something about the people and the whole thing seemed instantly familiar and likable. A heckuva talent.

Billy Mays was lying in bed after a long flight, tired with a sore head.

Reflecting on recent events, he decided to offer up a prayer.

"Lord, in the last week, you took Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Ed McMahon out of this world..."

The Lord immediately responded, "But Wait! There's more!"

This was the rumor I had heard about Billy Mays: he was into cocaine. I held back on posting about it waiting for the toxicology report, which came out today:

Autopsy uncovers cocaine in Billy Mays' body
Examiner: Drug use caused or contributed to heart disease, death

He was probably one of those guys who never liked to sleep much, and stayed jacked up on stimulants all the time. A couple lines of coke will keep you going nonstop all weekend.

If he was a chronic, long-term user, his heart probably just literally wore out.
