Re: Idol's Penultimate Week
Hey! You never heard me say I like "Idol"!
I've never seen a second of it!
Why? Well, secondarily, because I am not a part of the mindless masses that follow fads, trends and whatever the media wishes to hand them.
Mainly?
Psalm 106:36 says: "And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them".
2 Kings 17:12 says: "For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing".
1John 5:21 says: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen".
Have nice days, boys...

Re: Idol's Penultimate Week
The NFL is the only sport to me. I don't even care much about college football. I just follow it superficially, mainly for fantasy football and NFL draft purposes.
I've been to Redskins/Cowboys games and tailgated with the crazies.
But I still like AI.
Sorry...

Crap. That's it for me, then.Jay Nunley wrote:I'll have to check the individual state statutes, but it's a minimum six week revocation for each time you've watched it.
I haven't missed a single performance since the first episode of Season 2. I have skipped some results shows, though.
I did try to watch a little of a Reds game the other night. I made it through about 6 pitches before I had enough of that crap. I love playing baseball, I just don't see the point in watching it on television, let alone listening to it on the radio.
Along with what Arp was saying... When I ask "hey, did you see the Reds game the other night?" and you reply with "which one?" There's your problem. One or two per week should be sufficient.

Re: Idol's Penultimate Week
Idol gets political
I mean, curtural appeal is part of the package, but ultimately, this is a singing/performing competition, not a red/blue litmus test...

Is everything political these days?"The profiles of Adam and Kris suggest that this is really a red state versus blue state showdown," suggested Chris Lehane, a California-based political consultant who worked on the presidential campaigns of Al Gore and John Kerry.
The way Lehane sees it, Adam is the liberal in this race, the hipster from big blue California with a certain progressive flair, including painted fingernails and copious amounts of eyeliner.
Kris is more of a red-state country boy - a baby-faced, guitar-pickin', churchgoin' son of the land of Woo Pig Soiee, which voted solidly Republican in the last election.
"It will come down to whether Adam is able to build on the blue-state, progressive wave we have seen building since 2006, or whether this is a last gasp for the red state viewer/voter," explained Lehane by e-mail.

The fact that you are even AWARE of this argument negates all future claims to manhood. Burn your man card immediately.

Sigh. I think pitchers from my daughter's Little League softball team could do better.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Those of you trying so hard to "hold on to your mancard" have missed what could be the best 1:09 (so far) of TV I've seen in a looooong time....

Re: Idol's Penultimate Week
I saw some of American Idol last night for the first time this season, but only because my girlfriend had it on while we had the Cavs game paused while recording on the DVR -- I got back from the gym after it had tipped off last night. I did enjoy hearing the Black Eyed Peas song that I happened to catch while passing through the living room en route to the shower.
There have been two great NBA games in successive nights to start the conference finals. I was enthralled, even though the team I wanted to win didn't either time. And NBA ref Bennett Salvatore is either completely incompetent or part of a conspiracy to keep games close. How does this guy continue to get playoff game assignments in the post-Tim Donahey era?

Re: Idol's Penultimate Week
The Idol finale should be the runaway winner for the "variety" Emmy next year. It was a huge production and just one punch and one camera guy's slow move shy of being perfectly directed.
I'd have liked a little more emotion out of Kris, but.....
And, of course, let the record show I've been saying for about ten weeks that Kris is the only one I could "hear" on the radio....

Wifey-poo watched it, and generally thinks finale shows stink. She said last nights show was phenomenal.

I think it was so strong that Fox should have turned around and rerun it on Saturday. Alas....Lester wrote:Wifey-poo watched it, and generally thinks finale shows stink. She said last nights show was phenomenal.
