Well done, Mr. Brunner

I went to the Help for Animals benefit dinner at Rocco's Monday evening. WOAY-TV News Director Bob Brunner has been a big supporter of HFA for many years, and I believe he is currently a member of the board of directors. The last few years he has worked hard to get donations for an auction held at the dinner. Donations this year included whitewater rafting trips, golf weekends at various courses and state parks around the state, a football autographed by Chad Pennington & Bobby Pruett, hotel stays, and even an Associated Press clock. Brunner also conducts the auction.

This year the auctioned merchandise brought in about $3800 and successful bidders (and others) contributed another $800 above the winning bids. This was part of an overall net of over $10,000 for the event.

For those that don't know, Help for Animals provides a low-cost spay/neuter clinic near the Huntington Mall in Barboursville. In 33 years, they have spayed/neutered over 50,000 dogs and cats which puts a major dent in the number of strays in the area.
