A buddy of mine did a face-first slide through the mud at the Iroquois Steeplechase in Nashville this past Saturday:

Did he say, "Hey ya'll, watch this!", right before he did it?

Good God, that reminds me of the ONE year I played varsity baseball. The coach grabbed a garden hose and soaked the ground. Then the entire team had to practice belly slides, back slides, kick slides, and the like. That's when I decided baseball wasn't for me anymore.

We are led to believe that there is at least one reason for everything. With that in mind, may I ask why this fellow did this?

Nothing says horse racing to me like getting falling-down drunk and wallowing in the mud.

I wasn't there so I couldn't tell you for sure why he did it. But I theorize that boredom + alcohol + mud = mud slide.
