FOX will not carry Obama's "100 days" press conference

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

I think we've set a record for presidential prime time addresses for 100 days.

Not suprising, the last couple press conferences have been snoozefests as Obama gives 12 minute answers to questions randomly taken from Ebony and the Daily KOS.

The first couple were huge ratings hits but the last ones have dropped off big time.

Advice to Obama: absence makes the heart grow fonder. Getting in our face every other week (which is the rate practically he's been doing this) gets old fast. Especially when the press acts like teenage schoolgirls in front of Elvis, and questions amount to "how may I worship you?".

I suspect that this may become a FCC fight, over whether the executive branch can demand airtime whenever it wants for whatever it wants.

I think that this is a fight they would lose Constitutionally, else ALL broadcasters in America would be obligated to be "ALL El Presidente ALL the time" if demanded, for any reason.

TV Guide online news announced this at 4:20 pm (ET) Monday about Fox not carrying Obama. Here it is almost eleven hours later and TV Guide online listings still show regular network programming. Doesn't one department communicate with the others? Email? Fax? Text message? Snail mail? Cell phone? Land line? Smoke signals?

Seriously, I give props to Fox for turning that shit down. I find it ironic that in place of Obama's nonews conference, Fox is instead playing "Lie to Me"

The news conference will be given its due by the various cable outlets, Internet portals, and even good ol' fashion newspapers. America wants to be entertained!

How many channels must carry the news conference for it to be "well covered"?
Don't forger PBS,NPR, C-SPAN, BET,Al Jazerra, food channel and others will carry it live.
MSM will obsess over every nuance in the broadcast.
I hope his teleprompter works today.

I think I understand where all this hatred for Obama is coming from.

I'm already aiming high for my little girl...and I'm going to encourage her to run for president!

One prime time appearance every 25 days, on average. It might be time to slip into a recurrent rotation before burn-out occurs.

I heard Dick Morris say that Clinton only had two televised conferences in his whole first term, the networks wouldn't agree to more.

I thought Fox wasn't going to cover the President last night. He was even on Faux News.

The above Dick Morris quote is not factual. Clinton had more televised press conferences in his first term than W had in 2.

Fox News -- carrying it, of course.
Fox -- announced in advance regular programming would air.

No changes.

But Fox Network did indeed cover it. I watched part of it on WGHP Fox 8 in Greensboro.

Huh....must have been a local decision. Was it the FNC feed? Who hosted it?

Here in Columbus WTTE had Regular Fox Programming but had a bug at the beginning of lie to me that said if you want to watch Obama tune to Fox News Channel or Fox Business.

I was kinda glad Fox aired normal programming.

Don't know if it was the Faux News feed, may have been. I didn't watch long enough to see the hosts, too busy flipping around, then going back to Yankees/Tigers on ESPN.
They did decide early enough to have the Time Warner cable info show coverage of the Press conference.

Me too. I just don't see the purpose of televising these things anyway. As I posted before, there are plenty of other opportunities to watch or read about the conference.

Back in the old days of three over-the-air networks being the viewer's only choices, it made sense to air presidential press conferences. Nowadays, with a gazillion cable and satellite channels, broadcast it on the "news" networks and leave the regular prime time programming alone. My $0.02.
