Post Cereals. And you thought Burger King was weird.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Post Cereals. And you thought Burger King was weird.

Post by CoolBreeze »

The following Ad appears in the local "USA Weekend" edition:

Image

Ok, Post is establishing that gas guzzling (mostly American) cars are the death of us, not to mention the trash we throw away and other aspects of today's lifestyle that seems to be bringing on Global Warming.

How will this Ad campaign set with Americans who don't believe in any of the above?

And then.... there's this: http://www.thepalaceoflight.com/

An entire Post website that goes.... well... you tell me.....

I'm going Krogering today, now I guarantee there will be no Post cereals in my cart. Screw these half-wit greenulists. Incidentally, past societies have NOT been destroyed my progress, but by moral collapse leading to societal breakdown. By the way, shreaded wheat is crap, I'd rather eat the box. No wonder Post hates progress.

Which is why Kelloggs ignored putting the no in innovation and frosted the dried fodder turds to make them taste better. Now that is progress.

The whole thing is a tongue-in-cheek dry humor promotion. Didn't you see the "we put the NO in innovation" at the bottom of the ad. That second sentence, of course, prompts a predictable knee-jerk reaction from the Limbaugh/Big Oil lovin' Far Right. I doubt any of them saw past that particular sentence. Exhibit A=Jet's post. Exhibit B=Jerry's comments.

Do you really think there's an old man named "Frank Druffel" out there working for Post Cereals?

Boy, that dry sense of humor won't withstand a global warming-induced flood.

Of COURSE it's tongue-in-cheek... the premise anyway. However, the global warming stuff isn't funny at all, especially to the Left. The Right thinks global warming is hilarious, but the associated taxes and costs aren't.

Frank Druffel is fiction of course.

There's so much going on in this campaign, that it's not only weird... it's hard to tell the tongue-in-cheek dry humor from the message itself. What IS the message? That we wouldn't have global warming if we'd stayed the same as when Shredded Wheat was invented back in the days of horse and buggies? That slackers need to apply at Post for jobs? That somewhere in all this you should run right out and buy Shredded Wheat?

I LOVE obvious tongue-in-cheek dry humor, but this one's hard to separate the tongue-in-cheek from the political message.

None the less, I give credit to anyone willing to go outside the cereal box.

Why is it that dry tongue-in-cheek humor in the mainstream always belittles my beliefs? Let's see Post write a dry tongue-in-cheek bit about the good 'ol days before green retards developed the political power (on the backs of the hopelessly ignorant and easily impressed) to tell formerly free Americans what they could drive and what they could eat, so the green earth=mother would be appeased. That would be funny. What would happen to Post if they did so, would not.

I turned on every light I could find, ran both the furnace and the air conditioner, drove the long way for fun, and ate lots of spinach and beans so that I could fart a whole lot more than usual.

And Shredded Wheat. But it was Kellogg's. And Cheerios. That's General Mills.

JB, we are not the one's that are targeted by the going green BS. We are country boys at heart. We were conservationist and green freaks to protect our woods and streams for hunting and fishing. Some of were even purchasing cars years ago that were at the highest level of clean emissions possible yet did not advertise that fact nor put stickers on the car bragging about how low the emissions were. We have planted trees and plants to encourage wildlife and we have dumped our brush scraps in lakes to make fish shelters. We have been composting for over 25 years even before Martha Stewart made it the cool thing to do.

Hell, we even knew to dry the cow crap from the barn so it could be used as fertilizer on the garden.

We are not the target audience for Green Nazism. We are the innocent bystanders on the front porch with our shotguns in hand telling them damn Yankees from Madison Ave. to stay off our land or we will shoot. They are more interested in going after city slickers and convince them that filled with heavy metal toxins and acids Toyota Prius is more friendly because it burns less Dinosaur juice than my new Grand Marquis burns E85 Ethanol. I want my car to cleanly burn more fuel if I know that it is not going to poison the environment when it goes off to the scrap heap to be recycled.

Green Nazism is a religious movement, with mother earth the God.
Sort of like Scientology, but with government agencies as the churches.
A cult.
