WOTR going Country

According to the About section on the wotrfm.com website, WOTR will be picking up a Positive Country format from the new "Inspirational County Radio Network".

While it is different from other Country stations (since the music is Christian in tone), does West Virginia really need another Country station?

There is no place on Earth that NEEDS another country station.

No offense to my brothers in country formats. I'm just sayin'. There are 12,692 country stations in West Virginia alone.

How many places WANT another one is probably innumerable.

Christian Country is interesting to me. I sounds like a really good idea. What kind of competitive matrix/marketplace situation does WOTR have? I'm not familiar with the station.

I can't say I'm really familiar with the format, but I am familiar with the owner, Steve Peters. Steve likes to keep his content as local (where possible) and different (at all costs) than the other "(bland) flavour-of-the-week" pre-digested, watered down stuff that's out there. I'm sure he'll put his own twist on things, there.

It's also worthy to note that he's not veering far from the Christian programming that the previous owner, the late Bill Allman, so staunchly stood by. Good for him for keeping a finger on the pulse of is listenership.

I agree with Nunley... WV needs more country stations about as much as we need more Robert C. Byrd monuments.
