Combining baseball & politics?

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Combining baseball & politics?

Post by CoolBreeze »

Appalachian Power Park in Charleston is host to the West Virginia Power, the Class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. As part of their 2009 season to draw crowds, they will have giveaways including....

Not one, but two bobblehead giveaways during the season - May 30 for President Barack Obama and July 25 for former WVU quarterback Pat White.

* U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd gets a more dignified non-bobblehead figurine and those will be given away July 4.

I feel a little uneasy giving away images of politicians during sporting events. Seems like nothing good has ever come of that:

But my real question is: Why no Robert C. Byrd bobblehead doll? Too realistic?

Word has just leaked that the Robert Byrd figurine "chase" variant will include him with a fiddle...

As a young man, Robert Byrd attended Marshall University, then Marshall College.
The school colors are green and white even then.
I don't know about the pointy hats.
