California May Ban Black Cars

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

California May Ban Black Cars

Post by The Interpreter »

...The problem isn’t the color per se, but the reflectivity of the paint overall. And dark colors just don’t reflect well, so they are likely out. “Jet black remains an issue,” says the report.

The new regulations would be phased in beginning in 2012, so if you want that black car [in California], you better buy it soon....

If black cars should be banned for anything, it's because they are impossible to keep clean... It's funny they never listed more trips to the car wash as a reason.

Speaking of, the war on car washes will be next. Road grime is in.

I foresee scores of Nevada and Arizona dealerships that sell nothing but black vehicles to angry Californians who hated that color until they were told they could no longer have it.

Which won't work. If this passes, they will doubtless do the same thing they do with new cars--you can't bring in a non-California certified car as a resident unless it has X number of miles on it...

California is an example of what we're going to be after 8 years of "The One".

California is in a financial crisis, yet the state legislature is wasting time wanting to ban black cars? The nanny state is in full effect there.

All of those hippie stoner surfers from the 60's and 70's are now in power.

They're turning the entire state into a hippie commune.

How dare you! Probably being a white car driver, you have no right saying that or even discussing it!

Well, I am a white car driver. I drive a midnight blue car. I wonder if it will be banned as well.

Ever notice that the states that are in the worst economic and financial crisis conditions are without exception among the highest taxing, with the most intrusive regulations?

hmm... Clue?
