Thank God I can just pull up in front of Yann's, walk in, get three and a Diet Dr. Pepper and walk out with all the hubbub, Bub...

Is Yann's the place where you are forbidden to ask for slaw or ketchup or you get thrown out?
Or am I thinking of somewhere else?

Boy, everywhere in WV looks the same...
But at least we know how to make a good hot dog.
NoVA is a different dog completely. Standard hot dog is plain. You have to ask for everything, and half the time no slaw is available.
Chili and onions are pretty standard, though.
Still sucks, overall, compared to here.

If that is the way that you look at it, yes. Why anybody would EVER walk in there and all they see is a metal bowl with mustard and a stick in it, a bigger metal bowl of chopped up onions, and two water warmed vats of sauce and then ask for anything else? It's not the fact that Russell (or his Dad, Anthony, before him) are mean at at people that ask for ketchup, slaw or anything else...it's the fact that people are stupid enough to walk in there and ask for them when all that is available is in plain sight!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: THERE IS NO OTHER HOT DOG IN THE WORLD OTHER THAN YANN'S. Period. Case closed. Have a nice day...

Re: Logan Hot Dog Mecca?
I'm not saying they're mean people. I thought there was some kind of folklore about the place ... maybe an old sign or something warning you not to ask. In any case, I get to the Morgantown/Clarksburg area maybe once a year, and I gotta try this Yann's place, whereever the heck it is ...

Oh... and I still believe Frost Top and Smith's Midway are king but a freshly made Farley's dog will do.

Never been to Farley's... I'll add them to the list (location?).
Totally agree on Frost Top and Midway. THE BEST. Stewart's is my "if I have too" fallback.

Re: Logan Hot Dog Mecca?
According to the latest reports from wvhotdogs.com, Frostop and Midway ain't what they used to be.
Of course, Stewart's never got an A+ rating on that website either.
The best places, according to the reviewers, are Sam's, Hillbilly Hot Dogs, and the M&M Dairy Bell in Chesapeake, Ohio.

When the clientele was mainly locals and regulars, there was no need for a sign. Now there is a sign, along with a sign featuring the Clint Eastwood quote about "why would anybody EVER put ketchup on a hot dog"...Hoosier Daddy wrote:... maybe an old sign or something warning you not to ask.
It "hangs off of" the High Level bridge on the West Fairmont side, right across the street from the old WMMN studios in the Fairmont Hotel.Hoosier Daddy wrote:..and I gotta try this Yann's place, whereever the heck it is ...

Re: Logan Hot Dog Mecca?
Both Jet and OldiesDude may back me up on this, but in New Martinsville, try 'Knowlton's Chill 'n Grill.' They have a long tradition of making excellent hot dogs, dating back to the early '50's in Friendly. People from ALL OVER came to sample Virginia's secret sauce back in the day. Pat and Lori Knowlton are in their third year of operation, and have added several items to the menu. They are also set up for year-round operation, but haven't the last couple of years. And yes, YOU CAN GET SLAW!

Scratch the fish taco offer. Bring Edna south of Charleston and I will set her up with Morrison's hot dogs AND onion rings.

Now you ruined it, Dave. You mentioned onion rings.
I will now have to come with her.
You had her on her own until you mentioned the onion rings...
