Report: West Virginia Ranks Last For Happiness
WASHINGTON -- A survey of Americans' well-being gives high marks to Utah, Hawaii and Wyoming, all of which offer plenty of outdoor recreation.
But fun outdoors wasn't the only criteria. "Wild, Wonderful" West Virginia ranks last among the states in the survey.
The survey was conducted by Gallup in partnership with Healthways and America's Health Insurance Plans. It rated such variables as mental, physical and economic health.
In general, the highest well-being scores came from western states. The lowest were concentrated in the South.
But the actual difference between states wasn't great. The average score for Utah was 69.2 points, while West Virginia's score was 61.2 points.

I don't see many joyful people around here.
Especially in church.

Agreed. I would hate to think of the prospect of multiple women in the same house, all pissed off at the same time...Hoosier Daddy wrote:No. One is MORE than enough.RADIOHEAD 1 wrote:If men in WV were allowed have more that one wife, the state would be ranked as high as Utah..

And imagine how much chocolate you would have to have in the house when "certain times of the month" arise.

Happiness and Homelessness---GEESH !
A new report says West Virginia had one of the biggest increases in homelessness among the 50 states in the last 2 years.
The economy is at an all time low and homelessness in Wheeling is on the rise.
A recent study by the National Alliance to End Homelessness revealed a 58% increase in the amount of homeless people living in West Virginia and some of those people are living right here in Wheeling.
"What we ask a client is, when you became homeless where were you living, and if that person says I was working in Wheeling or Ohio County and I became homeless because I lost my job, they are a West Virginia homeless person," said Lisa Badia, Executive Director of the Greater Wheeling Coalition for the Homeless
Badia also said West Virginia ranks as one of the highest states dealing with chronic homelessness.
"What chronic homelessness means is you are an individual and you've been homeless for a year or you've had episodes, you've been homeless four times over a four year period," said Badia.
The problem does not just affect people visiting Wheeling from out-of-town. It is a problem affecting neighbors, friends, and even relatives living in Wheeling.

Re: Happiness
The reason homelessness is on the rise is that no one wants to admit on the cenus that they're actually from Wheeling.

Re: Happiness
I like that Michigan thing when they refer to the state as like looking at your right hand, palm up.
If'n you do the same thing for WV, It really looks like you are flipping the bird.
Wheeling is in the "up your ass" part.
