Can you guess what these are?

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

My guess is that you think that the soldiers used by the Mythbusters in the Break Step Bridge myth in Episode 12 were not accurate and this is your test to prove that their lack of results was incorrect and it is actually Plausible.

I see little green bags that say "Makita" and I see several drill keys or allen wrenches or something ...

Look closer... they're not bags.... they're actually Makita drills.

I put this on Fark. Have no idea if they'll accept it of course.

The first thing that came to me was: "The dream police live inside of my head".

Now that we have that out of the way, what is the mini phono plug for? I say it is a solar powered portable blender so you can make pudding while listening to music.

I think Willy Wonka had to fire all the Oompa Loompas and replace them with robotic versions.
Or is this the pit crew for Hot Wheels racing cars?

The drills are used as generators. The allen wrenches are used to crank the drills and generate power.

I'm not certain about the rest of it, but I'd guess that the black boxes on the front are some sort of audio generator and the white and black things on top are speakers of some kind.

For the first time in my memory, no one has figured out a photo from the internet.

OK... Ready?

THEY ARE CAMEL JOCKEYS

Image

In Qatar, the Emir of Qatar, banned child jockeys in 2005, and directed that by 2007, all camel races will be directed by robotic jockeys.

It is radio remote controlled (hence the black box electronics) and each owner either steers or whips the animal using the drill. I'm guessing that since they only use one drill turned sideways, it's for whipping. If you blow up the photo on that page, one of the drill arms has electrical tape and something blue at the very end. Is this how they attach a flexible whip? The drill then spins when the owner wants it to go faster?

We can only guess as to "the rest of the story", but it's a little too late now.

Not really. Child slaves used to be used as camel jockeys. This was the work-around to to stop their country from looking "barbaric and backwards".

Interestingly enough, due to the preachings of Islam, they had to be modified to look "less human". (The camels initially worked better with the ones that had "faces" on them.)

I can see robotic jockeys appearing in the future at the Kentucky Derby and other races. No humans to get hurt. No humans to have to split the winnings with. No humans to go on strike. The owner could operate the remote control and the winning robot would get a kiss in the winners circle by a sex doll or something.

Well, since you put it that way... but still... camel racing? Don't they have horses in Egypt?
