Kindred to kill WRVC-FM

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

This is a done-deal. I'm tryin' to let you know exactly what's happening...a REALLY big deal for some of the long-time members of this board and something I've fought-for for 1 1/2 decades. You're big boys-and-girls. It's nothing you can't research and figure-out before the "kill-date". Go get 'em.

Although...it's pretty good to see the current contributions.

You have wanted a voltmeter with the really sharp pointed leads on it.
Are you getting that? You'll put your eye out.

...you mean the one that read 280 instead of 208 on the three-phase last week?

At least you for your digital meter to read on all three digits.
Now to get the order of the digits correct.

Just tell us what is going on.

Cameron, I gotta admit it is fun to try and peek through the hole and see what our media minds can come up with. It's hard not to see News/Talk if Tom's involved. Did I hit or miss the target, or are you not able to say yet? Please let us know when you can. I am excited to find out!

The Interpreter wrote:I hope the rumor I heard is not true. Tom Roten bought it and is pre-emptorially leaving CC before they leave him...and WRVC-FM will be used by him full time to preach his home schooling, anti-Democrat, anti-medicine crack-pottery.
Just pursuing what I saw earlier.

Given the wise personnel choices made over at Kindred, as a rule, I sincerely doubt that Mr. Roten is involved...especially since Cameron has pointed out this is a change many here have advocated for a long time. Wonder where Blair is and how he would take all this? And wonder if the Planet format is goners...

What I posted earlier was a rumor I had heard...and I now believe it to be sheer fantasy...probably Tom and Tyler's fantasy!

I'm gonna take a stab at super duper hot AC, targeting KEE's fringe...

...or...

Classic Hits, circa what WCMI was playing during its heyday.

Not too hard, particularly when you look at the call sign history for the 92.7 frequency out of Catlettsburg, KY.

WRVC-FM - 05/16/1995
WCMI-FM - 11/29/1988

May 1995 to February 2009, wow that really is close to 1 1/2 decades. Time flies...

OK, let's get this over with. Kindred has purchased the rights to all our old "Tradin' Post" shows and will broadcast them 24/7 on a format called "Tradin' Post Classic". Cameron will oversee the operation which will include not only the old shows but live shows ala "Antique Road Show" where people wil be allowed to bring items into the Huntington Memorial Fieldhouse for trade and/or sale.

Good lord. What if I said the main reason for the call-letter change was to free up the WRVC-FM calls for something else?

Imagine the stir that would cause.
