Conan's last show.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Conan's last show.

Post by Lee »

Anyone catch it last night?

Sooo...Jimmy Fallon is taking his place.

Jimmy freakin' Fallon.

Out of all the people...they chose Jimmy Fallon.

Any bets on how many times he'll look at the camera and laugh?

IMO, Jimmy Fallon is a temp/scapegoat. They know no-one can really replace Conan and anyone they stick in the timeslot will fail. That person will be rejected simply for not being Conan. So, they find someone who is on the outer edge of plausible and have him host for six months or so. After 6 months of dismal ratings they get rid of Jimmy Fallon and bring in the permanent replacement. The new guy is received much better simply for not being Jimmy Fallon. He won't have Conan's ratings, but he'll do better than Jimmy and the audience will actually give him a chance to grow into the role as Conan did.

EDIT: Typo.

That's kinda the way history went down....that's pretty much what was being said 16 years ago.

By the way, the final show went long....I'd given it an extra minute, but I missed however it ended.
