HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall is teaming up with a Virginia university to offer a nurse midwifery master’s degree.

The Huntington school and Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va., announced the agreement Monday.

Marshall students will take 25 hours of classes in West Virginia, then transfer to Virginia to complete their degree work.

Marshall’s College of Health Professions Dean Dr. Shortie McKinney says the program will increase the availability of nurse midwives practicing in West Virginia.

The program will accept its first students for the new program for the fall term.
