It's a girl!

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Time for a primer in "Daddy Mode":

Having a little girl is a special gift from God.
Many fathers have also referred to this as 'daddy's payback.'
Some day ... and it will be here sooner than you think ...
Some boy ...
will want to do to your little girl ...
what you once wanted to do to other girls ... 8O
Be vigilant. Be the Daddy.
Enjoy her company.
Protect her.
Be a BIG part of her life.
That payback lasts a lifetime -- for you and for her.
They grow up way too fast.
Trust me.

Depends if the ultrasound was trans-belly or transvaginal.

You know I'm on the other side of the eight ball on this one ...

In the last three months, my 11 year old son has been asking "those questions" on an almost daily basis. He is seated in the roller-coaster of Puberty, seat belt locked down, moving forward and headed for that first big hill. As much as I'd like to keep him a little boy forever, I realize you cannot stop the roller coaster. Part of me wants to encourage him to have as much fun as he can, because the adult world and all of its one-way doors preventing childhood do-overs will be here someday. The other part of me is very aware of the permanent damage and the pain that can be caused by irresponsible youthful actions. I find myself defining the middle ground.

God is helping me here because my oldest is basically a good kid and a bit of an introvert. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong and (for now) wants to be a decent person. The youngest one is hell on wheels and may be a different story in six or seven years ...

Congratulations, Lee. I've got two daughters. Nothing like 'em.' :D What Hoosier said is 'dead on.' Enjoy them while you can...it all goes way too fast!

Sponge Bob Square Pants.
The 'Barney' of the 21st century.
Reserve a room at Prestera next to Hallburn.
You'll need it after a few years of non-stop children's television.

Dude, I loves me some Spongebob...I'm 33 and still watch cartoons. Cartoon Network had a marathon of the classic Warner Bros. Looney Toons on New Year's and I TIVO'ed it! :D SpongeBob is probably the closest thing out there to the old school cartoons...

Dora the Explorer kinda freaks me out...

I can't do Spongebob. Sorry.
For some strange reason, I did like the Teletubbies.
Go figure.

Shouldn't that be at Mildred-Mitchell Bateman Hospital??

I have no problem with children's programming. I got my steady doses of Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, The Electric Company, and the Great Space Coaster (sadly, my daughter won't get to see the latter two). I'll be one of those dads that sit and play dolls and tea parties or whatever else she wants to do. The cool thing is now I have a REAL reason to play dress up and to wear women's clothes!

Er....maybe I shouldn't have said that!   :D
