Looks like "ATV Girl" is now the weekend anchor at WCHS-DT
now that Jake Glance is the PR flack for the Secretary of State.
Maybe Hallburn could get a job at WCHS?

Over the holidays, she did a good job holding down the desk. She is not Jessica Ralston, but I cannot hold that against Norieka.

Re: Elizabeth Norieka
I personally think Elizabeth is a decent anchor who will become very good with a year or two of experience under her belt. She is relatively young, and if you look around, there aren't too many 26 year old anchors who do better than her. By the way, who exactly is genlock? He sure takes a lot of shots at television people and I'd like to be able to hear him on air sometime. You guys have got to remember, this is not a market where people stay a long time, it's generally one where they are on their second job, get some experience, and move on. I don't care who you are, go back to your second job in your chosen career, and unless you stayed at your first job for a long time, chances are you would cringe and appreciate how far you've come. Have a little class, Genlock.

Re: Elizabeth Norieka
Touchy. Touchy. Nothing wrong with Genlock's post. I left out the parts about Norieka giggling like a school girl on air which I overlooked considering her age.
And with some of the segments that I saw on WCHS/WVAH in November/December last year, I also agree that Halburn could be hired for creative on air content.

Genlock is a professional news critic. He is employed by this board to keep us informed of all the happenings with "the news." This is Genlock's second career (he was once a paper boy as well) so I feel he does a pretty decent job.

I didn't say anything bad about Liz Norieka.
She certainly is better than the Jake fellow.

Elizabeth does a decent job she just needs some more experience and some coaching. There are some other young anchors here who do a great job that also deserve some credit. Amanda Barren. Gina Long. Sara Gavin.

There's only two reasons to be in WV:
You're on your way up and out...
You're on your way down and out.
You're on your way up and out...
You're on your way down and out.

A lot of people in our area fit this category.Jay Nunley wrote:... or you like it here and want to stay.
Don't discount it.
A long-recognized part of Appalachian culture.
We like living at home, surrounded by a lifetime of friends and family.
Like many young people, I left, went to the Big City, went to college, and then worked there.
And I came back.

Yeah it is... Don't kid yourself. The Big City ain't all it's cracked up to be ...
There's far more opportunity to better yourself there. It's not impossible here, it just takes a little longer.
But it's been virtually impossible for me to readjust to life here, even though I grew up here.
I've learned to deal with it, but I always have that "lost" feeling. I feel like I "know too much".
The funny thing is, I get so disgusted with this place at times, but yet the second any "outsider" starts putting it down, I defend it.
Despite my "cultured" side, I guess I'm still an in-fighting hillbilly at heart.
Anyway, I'm in for more Liz pics if anyone's got them...

Sadly, Liz Norieka pictures and bio have been removed from
ATVscene.com. They were very nice pictures of a bikini clad Liz.
