Let the non-techies take a story and run with it...that's what I say.
The folks that pray to Mecca and run the building will not let their wonderful tenant have a generator OR a transfer switch.
I have wanted out of the Coal Exchange since...let me see...1992...something like that.
I haven't signed paychecks or rent checks since then, though.

Please, go on. One of you might stumble on a soulution for me.

The only one I have is to have the lease structured so that the landlord is responsible for any lost revenue due to spots that don't run while stations are off the air due to power problems because of the generator install they won't permit.

I used to work there and I can't remember the studios having the ability to loose power. Cameron, why was this capability hidden from me? I can remember them losing power once, but loosing, I didn't know we could do that. What kind of power can the studios loose? Could I have used it to increase cume?

...because "loose" power involves a repair that requires one to screw something. The thought of Nunley screwing something other than Dave's mom is something I am ill-equipped to handle.

The hydro power plant in Huntington is a great idea. There's plenty of free energy to be generated from just the broken water lines alone. I'm sure Mike has discussed the rent vs. airtime thing with Ebenezer Hussein.

Morningside Dr because the building was leaking when it rained. It was granted.

Back in the day, WCAK was in a one room building on Carter Ave (I think) in Ashland. Prior to Martin buying the station, Kilgore sent the FCC an emergency request to move the studios to Morningside Dr because the building was leaking when it rained. It was granted. They were in a warehouse style building (in a one room office) on Greenup Ave almost under the Ashland-Coal Grove bridge.
As far as I know, WCAK was always in that decrepit building in downtown Catlettsburg across from Giovannis Pizza.

When Mike Kilgore moved the studios from Catlettsburg to Ashland, they were in a small (doctors office type) building that was surrounded by parking lot. This was in '84 or '85.
They were live assist off the bird. When the emergency request was ok'd by the FCC, the stipulation was that each station had to run independent of the other. CAK moved into the old WAMX studio in the front the building (with their cassette decks for automation), and WCMI was in the back. When the sale was closed, we patch-corded the AM into the FM and ran both stations from the WCMI studio til the new studio could be built.
