Whoever did this to Plummer Guy needs to be arrested. This is a serious invasion of privacy.

However, I have several friends who work within the government, or closely with them through government contracts. They tell me this stuff happens all the time, especially since 9/11 and the Patriot Act. There is a better than decent chance that all of us have been investigated by the feds at some point without our knowledge. I know I have because of the friends I hung out with. When they needed security clearance, the government checks everything, including your entire background, family, your friends, and their backgrounds.

We also had a friend who was Canadian, and overstayed his Visa working here. He was renting a room from someone who worked within the state department. Shortly after 9/11, he had to vacate and go back to Canada because all government workers were throughly investigated. And if they found him allowing an "illegal" to rent from him, he would have lost his job, and our friend would have been deported.

The State snooping on us is nothing new... But using that information to purposefully damage someone's reputation goes against everything this country supposedly stands for.

Just like our fine military members' oath, ours is "to protect and defend the Constitution." And that doesn't mean just the paper it was written on....it means its ideas, ideals, and principles. For that reason, I begin working for this guy's defeat immediately. Defense is a legitimate function of government; introducing communism under euphemistic terms and engaging in persecution of those who question or defy it is not.
