What ever happened to...

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

What ever happened to...

Post by OldSkool »

Whatever happened to Thanksgiving? You know, the one where we are thankful for good food, good friends, some family and good football? Christmas items were already stocked on shelves before the Halloween decorations were gone. Driving through Ashland the other day, I noted where WLGC already has their window completed painted with Merry Christmas wishes. We need a turkey drop to bring attention back where it belongs.

Please. Don't make me dread my Thanksgiving holiday at my house in Ashland.

Considering that only the grocery stores really benefit from this holiday, it's quickly ignored by all but the Superest of Wal-Marts.

I'm sure I wasn't the first, but, a few years ago, I figured out that much of what we feel is not "the same as" or "as good as" it once was is the stuff that we did as children but then stopped doing. If you want it back, bring back childhood!

Do what you did and create the environment(s)...trace your hand and make the turkey decorations (you're smiling just thinking about it, aren't you?), watch the Charlie Brown special (are you hearing "Linus & Lucy" in your head right now?), do the baking and make the aromas fill your home, go out and touch, smell, and play in the leaves (no raking!)(realize you might not be able to jump in them at this age, though)....be very strategic about your schedule and time so that you can approach the week as casually and freely as possible (what and how much of it can you leisurely do in advance?)....

What can you do to make yourself (and your listener...?!) smile uncontrollably, maybe even giggle, and live and enjoy these times like you (or he or she) did as a child? :D
"I don't know the same things you don't know."

"Yes, you do; you just won't admit it!"

Nothing... every bit of air time you have is dedicated to Black Friday sale commercials. :-)
