Judge rules Ohio homeless voters may list park benches as addresses

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A federal judge in Ohio has ruled that counties must allow homeless voters to list park benches and other locations that aren't buildings as their addresses.

U.S. District Judge Edmund Sargus also ruled that provisional ballots can't be invalidated because of poll worker errors.

Monday's ruling resolved the final two pieces of a settlement between the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.

The coalition agreed to drop a constitutional challenge to Ohio's voter identification law until after the Nov. 4 election. In return, Brunner and the coalition agreed on procedures to verify provisional ballots across all Ohio counties.

The coalition was concerned that unequal treatment of provisional ballots would disenfranchise some voters.

And if so, shouldn't we restrict the vote to homeowners and not renters? I mean, how do you know where they really live if they don't own property?
And if we restrict to homeowners, shouldn't we keep out everyone whose name isn't on the deed or mortgage? Sure, you may have children over 18 residing at home, but, I don't know, how do we REALLY know?

And how about absentee ballots. Damn, who knows how many of those are faked. So many people claiming to be away from home for work, or family illness, or military service.

You must vote in the precinct for which you reside. I seriously doubt that anyone resides on a park bench or cardboard box long enough to fulfill that requirement. The main reason for this of course is to hold down voter fraud..... to keep bands of roving Mingo County voters in one spot for instance.

Besides, the "homeless" are nothing but druggies or mental patients 95% of the time. The ones that go through the trash cans like here on Capitol Street in Charleston. We used to call them winos. And I cant imagine them helping to steer Americas future any more than I can imagine mental institution inmates voting.

In Ohio, union nurses and wives escort the such, pose as caregivers, and "help" them with the machine. It happens every time, it happens out in the open, and I've personally seen it.

By the way, unless McCain wins the state, there is no way an Ohio result can legitimately be announced Tuesday night.

Unknown to me until around the end of August, two of my acquaintances work for Boards of Election. They both told me what was going on with Brunner before it hit ("Everyone is mad; Democrat counties claim not to have the manpower to do what's needed, and Republican counties are seeing fraud and wanting to sue"), and the number of suspected (known, in some cases) fraudulent votes ranges from as low as 20,000 to as high as 175,000. There's no way it can be cleared up and cleaned up in the next week.

Seriously, you cannot disenfranchise someone because they are homeless. Our system is designed to err on the side of letting people vote.
And Obama will win Ohio.
And isn't the only case of prosecuted and convicted voter fraud in this century the one by the Republican operative who wrote a book about it?
