Did anyone else realize that there is some sort of championship game being played between two baseball teams, one from Philadelphia and one from Tampa?

Seriously... does anyone care about baseball anymore? Growing up, I was glued to the television for every Reds game. I collected and traded baseball cards and I could tell you who the major players were and for which teams they played. Now, I didn't even realize there was a baseball team in Tampa. And what the hell happened to the Expos? The Expos rocked!

Now, I didn't even realize there was a baseball team in Tampa. And what the hell happened to the Expos?

...and, apparently, there's some sort of basketball league that pays money...it has a team in Oklahoma, of all places, that apparently came from Seattle to replace the Oklahoma team that was from New Orleans that was really the team from Charlotte brought in to replace the team from Utah that replaced the team connected to Memphis or something? And there's some new team in Charlotte to replace the Charlotte team that supposedly couldn't make it there or something but it has some different name even though the team that left didn't keep the name? I have no idea anymore....

But, no...this "baseball" you mention? Not familiar with it. And it's on TV? Ohhhh...is this the reason The Simpsons and King Of The Hill weren't on?

I am working with friends on the logistics of getting to town for that event. I will have to burn a PTO day for that event.

The majority of those attending Major League Baseball games are considered "casual" fans.

The majority of those attending Major League Baseball games care more about who they are there with or what they are going to eat or drink than what is going on in the game.

If you can't name ten previous National League and ten American League "Rookie Of The Year" award winners off the top of your head, you're not a baseball fan.

Football has become more popular than baseball due to the "weekly party atmosphere" that surrounds it's games along with the fact that most NFL fans have the attention spans of a hummingbird as far as being a fan of something that goes on for 162 games.

Baseball is still "The National Pasttime"...it's just that the nation has shrunk.

Bottom line? America, on the whole, is not smart enough to appreciate baseball...

I don't like baseball. I'm luke-warm on movies that make me think baseball is great and dramatic. I like baseball in Charlie Brown becasue you never have to really see the game being played. Once I took a shovel-full out of a black-ant hill and dumped it onto a red-ant hill. That was interesting. If you double-booked a Yankees-Phillies game on the same feild as a major South American Soccer tournament, which sport do you think would be able to keep the field? Soccer players are fierce, but baseball players have bats and helmets. Food for thought...

Now, we have to hoist a statue of Billy Penn to the top of the Comcast Building and put him on the roof where he belongs.

On a very sad note: I have a previous engagement at work and will not be making it to the parade tomorrow. It will be a long parade with the kickoff at 20th and Market street and ending at the Stadiums in South Philly.

Although, It would not be as fun as the Mummers Day Parade where the kids in the crowd get candy from the performing mummers and the rest of the crowd get whiskey and beer.
