heres a interesting discussion waiting to happen...

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

In this vid a teen with down syndrome gets floored by the parent of a small child... Dad comes off like superman and nails the dude.. Gonna post my thoughts later, just curios to the opinions of other people in handling of this situation... :?:

I admit that it would be tough if it was my kid but I think it could've been handled without violence. Is there any information on what happened before this?
That's clutch right there. . . . .

Looks like "mom" should have been watching her kid a little better. I can't imagine that was the first time this behavior has shown itself.

This guy got off lucky. I've seen Nunley punch the handicapped unprovoked.

Handicapped or not, you don't threaten my kid, let alone touch. I would have dropped his ass, too.

Having said that, what is not clear is if the kid was making fun, mocking, or just being belligerent to the guy. If this were the case, I would have dropped his ass and then beat my kid until he couldn't sit down for a month.

My immediate perception was that the kid made noise and the kid on the cellphone got mad about it. disturbing his call.

Wow.

In a way that looked like a knee-jerk reaction by the parent protecting his kid. However, the courts would treat physically assaulting a special needs/MR person no differently than assaulting an actual child.

Legally, the parent is in the wrong. It's hard to claim self-defense in that instance.

Although the term "retard strength" had to come from somewhere...

Reminds me of a great Sarah Palin joke... (which I'm going to hell for laughing at.)

I've watched this clip over and over, not having audio makes it hard to have an opinion but it doesnt even look like he actually kicked the kid as much as poked him with his foot...

I think the dad over-reacted just for the fact that the kid was in the frame for a good 8-10 seconds before the dad obviously sprinted over.. which is bad parenting on his part in my opinion, I know when i take my kid into a public place, ANY public place, i'm casin' the place out lookin at every possible wierdo or accident waiting to happen and i make him stay within 3-4 feet of me if i'm not holding their hand.... but then again, I actually give a shit about my kid...
