If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

B-29 vs. Tower

Nearly every tower disaster that I have seen has involved the total destruction of the transmitter facility, too. I am curious.

1. What is the maximum distance the transmitter can be from the base of the tower?
2. Are there no FCC guidelines that stipulate how far a transmitter building must be from the tower?
3. Why wouldn't the insurance underwriters require a certain distance before writing a policy?

transmission lines lose a lot of power so it takes more power to locate the transmitter away from the tower. more power increases the power bill so they try and put them as close as they can. also there are tranmission line matching problems that come from the distance as with directional towers. most towers are built so that if they fall they will be on the company land to prevent lawsuites.
