I post this NOT for its political viewpoints, but to start a discussion...do you agree with the implied viewpoint here that it is best not to tell people reality if it may cause them to tune out, hurt your ratings and not view your advertising? Or that it may damage your reputation for, of all things, fairness?

Seriously... you have all these so called analysts with their modern Tim Russert (RIP
) style weegie boards/maps and they are certain who is winning which state.
For that matter, why vote?
If the analysts already know this candidate is going to win this state and that candidate is going to win that state, why vote? Honestly, I am sick of all the analysis and forecasting hypothetical "maps." Why can't we go vote, have someone count our votes, and let us know who won?

How about some honest opinions from all us goobers? Probably by 10 o'clock on election night, Obama will have all but clinched the election, if not outright won. Should the news outlets report the states as they are clinched, or should they wait till West Coast poll closing times?
If I lived on the West Coast, I'm not sure how I'd feel. Living on this side of the country, I want to know instantly every little bit I can find out.
What if the technology existed (as I'm sure it will in an hour or two) to broadcast the info only to specific state or regions.
But then you have everybody e-mailing, texting and calling their west coast buds.
So, should the nets wait or should they report?

Even though West Coasters are used to EST dominance, and its spoilers, I can't imagine the largest state in the country being effectively told that they wasted their time voting. Sorry about Wyoming electing their president for them...
I believe that happened on one election back in the day... The NY-based networks declared a winner while people in Cali were still driving to the polls.
