Changes at WKEE

Post by Bar Rat »

I haven't listened to WKEE in quite a while. The website says Gary is still there from 2-7... but that's going to be bitten into...

Is this the first WV station to carry the show?

I haven't heard of it being carried anywhere else. Seacrest's website doesn't have a list of affiliates.

Also known as more local programming goes by the wayside to be replaced with canned national stuff. This time in the middle of the day. Not good. Not good at all.

The day may be coming when there is virtually no local talent across the street from a Walgreen's in Huntington.

It's a good show, but I can't imagine 3 hours of it every day.

1 to 4? That's preposterous. Why would a radio station dump local programming for a canned shit show from 1 to 4? I can perfectly understand 7 to midnight, or midnight to 6, or even 6 to 9. I don't get it at all.

I have been listening to Gary "Music" Miller since I was shitting yellow. No sense at all.

Damn.

The whole thing smacks of two possible things.

1. Desperation. Let's face it, the station has fallen from 20 to 8 and change in the ratings. If Judy wasn't such a decent human being, Jim would have been on the street by now.

2. Corporate said to do it. I don't know if the Seacrest show has anything to do with CC, but it sure seems like a stunt they'd pull. KISS is, after all, on 107.1 because of corporate.

I think CC Corporate is shoving this down the throats of the local stations.

My guess is it has everything to do with CC. Ryan is their golden goose.

The show is even being pushed on the majors... Small markets never had a chance. Resistance is futile.

However, it may be a decent show. I haven't heard it yet.

We're using the term "show" loosely here... it's more or less voicetracking with localized liners.

Billy Bush is doing the same damn thing.

Even if it's being forced on smaller CC stations, they're hyping it for the Seacrest name only. It's nothing really special.

It seems just by the sightings of the show in this thread that there is some option as to when to air it. Why would someone want to throw this (good, bad or otherwise) into that 1-4 slot? It just doesn't seem like a smart move... then again, I'm not a music CONsultant or a corporate drone, so who knows.

I don't know. This might be time for Know It All to tell all. He seems to know these things.

Gary's still listed as 2p-7p on the website, but they've added a link to Seacrest's site under the On-Air category.

Is RS still using Botox? He's got that plastic smile look going on.
