Pittsburgh Pirates = EPIC FAIL

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Pittsburgh Pirates = EPIC FAIL

Post by Mr. Jones »

Although you knew this already. Here's a list of how NOT to run a professional baseball (or any other sport, for that matter) franchise.

Not for the faint of heart.

Baseball is inherently unfair for small market franchises. But, as the Tampa Bay Rays have shown this year (and the Twins in the past), it is possible.

Nobody around here, apparently. Nationals have the worst ratings in MLB.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost their 82nd game of the season last weekend. With that loss, the Pirates clinched their 16th consecutive losing season, tying them with the 1933-48 Philadelphia Phillies for the longest such streak in professional sports history.

It's quite an accomplishment.
Stupid Fu%$ing Idiot Pittsburghian Journalist. 1933-1948 was the Philadelphia Atheletics prior to them being relocated to their present home of Oakland.

So that means the Pirates have record worse than the Phillies. Period.

Praise God! At least the Nationals make the Phillies look like they have a shot before the Mets become a "megateam" with all the money they make from selling seats in their new stadium in Queens, NY.

And down the hall, we have a manager that has her cube decorted in a Mets decor. I guess that is better than the Giants cube across the wall from me and the Cowboys office down the hall.

1). I have been a Pittsburgh Pirates fan since 1967... no matter if they finish over .500 or under .500.

2). To me there is no other sport beside baseball and there is no other team other than the Pirates.

3). The annual first spring training game that the Pirates play (usuall against Manatee County CC) ranks ahead of the Super Bowl in importance to me.

4). I actually do believe I could either manage or General Manage the Pirates better than those that have attempted to do that job over the last 15 years.

5). I know I could call a better game than Greg Brown.

6). Long live Rimp Lanier...

If there is no other team than the Pirates, would they be in first?

To me they are. Might as well be looking at the quality of draft picks they've been getting!

You do realise the irony of calling someone an idiot and then misspelling "Athletics"?

The Nuttings run the Pirates much in the same way they run their newspapers, which is why I quit.
