West Virginia Tonight Live on the web

Post by WV Newsnut »

Looks like WVMH is now streaming WVTL on all fours station web pages now. Used to be only only WOWKtv.com, but now this banner is on all four station sites. ANd apparently you see what happens off the air too LOL

A watchable newscast.
Much morewatchable that channel 13 news at 6.
When is Bray gonna consolidate the whole shebang?

I have now figured out that Genlock is April Kaull... haha

I think that everyone is forgetting that WVMH tried the whole statewide thing and everyone hated it... They had Weekend AM Live and all the weekend shows were statewide... They were bashed and got no numbers...

What make the 5:30 any different? Or do we have a sudden taste for regional news?

Does anyone know why WJAL-TV 68 in Chambersburg carries West Virginia Tonight Live? They have been for awhile and I thought maybe WVMH was going to buy 'JAL and move it to the Panhandle to cover the entire state.

For awhile the WBOY logo even appeared on the WJAL simulcast. When Entravision bought out 68 - I thought it would have gone Spanish a long time ago.

It still does, but you have to watch fast. WJAL covers up the "12" with their logo...but sometimes they are a little slow and you can see the "12".

I don't see how WJAL can go spanish with Univision, Telemundo and Telefutura affils out of DC. But I agree with ya, I figured they would have a long time ago. I miss the ol' 'JAL with all the syndicated programs.

After watching the "newscast" tonight live on the web a few notes for anyone who is running the ship...

-Use your preview bus instead of constantly popping anchors and reporters up on-line during breaks..wonder what the FCC would say if an F-Bomb got through?
-Until now I had thought the crappy picture was due to my local crappy WVMH station, not so, it looks crappy on the web. Crushed pedastal and oversaturation on studio shots and high
blacks...anyone at WVMH know what 7.5 is on a waveform?????
-Apparently this is run through the WOWK control room...I'm sure your 6pm anchors and reporters love for us to watch them do their hair and pucker their lips! Someone let
Rick Dayton know that someone is still pissed at him cause he was asking that before the final segment in the break today.

I applaud their efforts for getting this onto the web, but after watching it today it just reinforces the fact that nobody thinks things through before they implement changes!

More interesting about WJAL and Hagerstown's WHAG is their carriage on Dish Network under the Washington DMA. Not sure how upset WRC-4 was over another NBC affiliate appearing on their local package. So I guess the program is even aired in DC ....

You're guessing that people in authority downstate have actual production values.
