With HD becoming mandatory, it's sad that they insist on charging so much more for HD packages.

FEB. 17, 2009 - "DIGITAL" NOT HI-DEF

While a HI-DEF picture is digital. It is not mandatory for "off-air" -(example WTRF-Wheeling), to broadcast their signal in HI-DEF, Many will but it is not MANDATORY. It will be mandatory that they switch from an analog signal to a digital signal. Some cable channles (example Lifetime moive network) have been digital for years.
Some have been Hi-Def in the last few years. At some point in time I figure it will be like color TV. I don't think you'll find any broadcasters; broadcasting in Black and White, unless the movie or what ever is made that way. HD- will become that someday and I figure pretty fast, but it IS NOT mandatory.

Here at my house, we made the switch from cable to DirecTV last month. So far it has been great, even during a few thunderstorms.

Recently, when storms have been so bad that the satellite service downstairs goes out, then it is so bad that Comcast can't see their birds either and the Comcastic world is also dark.
