Newspapers Facing Worst Year for Ad Revenue

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

So did we get any numbers from this stunt to see how effective newspaper advertising can be to draw people to the web.

We're not doing too bad. Ad revenue is only bad for paid dailies. Weekly free papers, like mine, are thriving.

Plus I think that the biggest hit for ads is more for the classifieds than the ads in the regular paper. Help wanted ads have moved to Monster and CareerBuilder. Cars for sale are now posted on Cars.com. And all other items that do not fit into a neat category can go on Craigslist.

Classifieds were gravy money for newspapers. Now they are having to compete. Capitalism at its best.

One of the largest waste of taxpayer money these days are paid legal advertisements. Newspapers charge governments assloads of money for those things. It used to be that that the newspaper was the only way to get that info out. Now, governments could post legal advertisements online.
