Firefox 3 Download Day Tuesday
I read about this on another message board:
Firefox, as well as being a rather good browser, will give you a better viewing experience when visiting the Talk CSI.
To that end I'd like to encourage you to download Firefox 3 on Tuesday June 17 when the makers of Firefox are attempting to set a world record for the number of software downloads in a day.
For more details, go to: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord
And from a recent CNet .com email:
Firefox 3: Light, fast, and secure
If you haven't tried Firefox, what are you waiting for? The latest version, Firefox 3, will soon be out, and the release candidates are stable enough these days for daily use. (Currently, RC2 is the latest build.) What's good about Firefox 3 is that it's light on resources (even if you have 15 tabs open) and very fast--an improvement over Firefox 2 by far. What's even better are all the built-in security features. For this week's Security Bites podcast, I spoke with Jonathan Nightingale, Mozilla's "Human Shield," aka its security user interface designer. Nightingale developed some of the cool new security features baked into Firefox 3.

Looks like the is going to be a Digg-esque roll out.
11:30 am EDT and the event has not started.

A post on Spread Firefox says 10am PDT... which makes it less than 25 minutes from this post until you can download.cgarison wrote:Lester wrote:And it goes live when?![]()

Well that went well. Installed on Vista Enterprise, and it won't launch. Doesn't even make a blink under Task manager.

Works fine on XP. Also, a couple of friends downloaded it and works fine on their XP systems, too. Does anything work right with Vista? Does Vista work right?

No, it does not work at all. It's a flaming bag of dogshit set alight for anyone to wander upon and attempt to stomp out. Unfortunately, I have to keep it on one of my systems at work "just in case".
That said... Firefox 3 doesn't work with it.

That is the reason to stick with XP.

I have IE 7 and XP. Love 'em both!

Re: Firefox 3 Download Day Tuesday
I am wanting to go back to Vista Premium for my media center PC. The issue is my current media center doubles for my photo processing PC which needs to be very reliable.
This means I am currently looking through my inventory of parts to build a new PC just for Vista. All I need is a case/PS, motherboard, and a hard drive.
I have too much junk laying around.

I uninstalled 3 beta and did a clean reinstall. Worked great, until a theme crashed it. Reinstalled three times but couldn't get it to open. Finally, I had to delete all settings and cookies just to get the theme off. Has worked fine ever since.

Re: Firefox 3 Download Day Tuesday
I have been using Firefox 3 as my default browser for one week and it is the best browser I have ever used. No problems even when working in Microsoft websites that use to always crash when using any browser other then IE.
