Taylor is struggling to find enough players, who are being forced to play both offense and defense. She fired her brother as head coach of the National Women's Football Association team, and the Wonders lost their first three games by a combined score of 192-0.
192 to zero? Hahahaha!
"It's very hard to be taken seriously around here," Taylor said.
Hahaha!
The home opener on April 19 drew only 60 fans, was played in a terrible rainstorm and ended after 10 minutes of play. Injuries reduced the Wonders' roster to 11 in the second game and to 10 by the end of the third game.
Hahaha!
Improvements are measured in yards, not points.
Hahaha!
"We've got a couple of first downs under our belts," quarterback Jennifer Vannatter said. "We're working toward that first score. Hopefully it will come before the end of the season."
Hahahahaha!
"When you put women together, you're always going to have some type of drama. It could be anything," Taylor said. "The frustrating part is working through that and at least keeping them talking and getting along.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Most of the Wonders' players are from Huntington or Beckley, not far from the team's home field at Oak Hill High School.
"Our goals are small right now," Graves said. "In the fourth quarter, we do get wore out. We do get tired. And when we get a first down, it feels like we made a touchdown.
Hahahaha!
