It's Magic...

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

It's Magic...

Post by SHOOTNTHANEWZ »

The word on the street is that WSAZ pulled their weather forecast from Magic 97.9 for a couple days because Dee DeLancey was the guest DJ... Pretty douche move...

Yeah, it was kind of stupid to have Delancy on Magic for no apparent reason.
Maybe if they dig up D.J. to do the weather, all will be forgiven.

Dee Delancey and J.B. Miller worked together back in the old WGNT days.

Delancey got his start in radio.

I see no problem with what Magic did. If WSAZ did pull the weather as a result of this, why hasn't their been all sorts of stories on WOWK about it (or does he work for WCHS)? It seems to me that this is grounds for an immediate WSAZ trashing on behalf of Magic and/or WOWK and someone missed a golden opportunity to stir the shit pot.

In the absence of any written agreement regarding the use of WSAZ's weather, Magic is free to choose anyone they want to be a guest DJ. If no one at Magic violated any contract, then WSAZ is being, well ... very childish. A perfect opportunity for the other TV stations to capitalize on this. In larger markets, it would have already happened.

WOWK has more class than the intern ran WSAZ.

Sounds like a classic inside-broadcasting snit-fit that nobody outside the biz cares about or would even have noticed, thus to the extent that anyone does notice, WSAZ comes off looking like dicks.

For what it's worth, my contract with WSAZ forbid me from working in radio during the length of the deal -- and I was just a producer there.

I saw Scott Saxton, the WSAZ news director the other day.
He was having lunch at a time when a newscast was on.
I cant imagine Bos Johnson doing that.
The WSAZ department head was wearing a tee-shirt.
Market leader, indeed.

Former ND Maribeth Anderson and Ken Selvaggi would never take a lunch hour, especially during sweeps.

Thinking back to the days of the WVMH take over of 13 in Huntington, Did we ever think the above statement would be posted on this board???

...and I don't think Tony or the mets care much either. It's a cash cow for the stations. It's one less thing Marina has to do when she comes in each morning (at 4:45am).
