I Am Tempted And Actually Considering...

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

I figured the orange version of that car from the early 80's that had the adjustable height hot rod rear wheels would be more valuable.

Why didn't you just buy the thing in the 1980's for $3.00 like everybody else?

The main answer to both of your questions is this: it's a "packaging error" that almost NONE of which hit the store shelves. This is only the second one that I have ever seen offered, and most of the ones that did hit the shelves never came into this area. Combine that with the fact that I only began collecting in 2001 and you can see why I am almost ready to do this.

If the card had never had a price sticker on it and were in just a tad better shape, I'd do the $1200 "Buy It Now" in a heartbeat. To folks that keep their cars in the package, the package means EVERYTHING. The rarest of the Collector Number Hot Wheels (#271 Funny Car) is worth around $1.50 to $3.00 out of the packaging and over $3000 in the package. That one's on my list, too...

PS: I could not get "double back-to-back quotes" to work at the top of this post. Can't do that anymore or what???

I had the Super Charger Sprint Set when I was a kid. Loved those Hot Wheels-but Johnny Lightning's were pretty cool too. Of course I had the GI Joe Mercury Capsule too, but it sank to the bottom of Tygart Lake when I tried to "splash it down" and put a homemade parachute on it.

Yes, as long as I can try it out in the old sandbox...

I think my Hot Wheels are still buried there.

You had Johnny Lightning cars and tracks, amayo? WOW! I did, too! It seems that so many people have forgotten about them!

They had the original track, and then they came out with the Indy, the LeMans and the Cyclone. Which did you have?

I think I had the LeMans. I recall not being happy that they wouldn't fit the Hot Wheels track very well.

$1200 would buy a LOT of Yann's Hot Dogs, you know ...
