MORGANTOWN -- The chairman of the West Virginia University Board of Governors says he will hand over that position when his term ends in July.
Steve Goodwin says he'll continue to serve his term as a board member through 2010, but he won't seek the chairman's position again.
He issued the statement today to quiet speculation on the matter.
Goodwin has been under attack by some faculty members and alumni, along with WVU President Mike Garrison, over a degree scandal that has tarnished the school's reputation.

A riot at commencement should seal the deal.

Just stepping down from chair.
Still will retain seat on board.
Still stinking up the place.
