MY Z 7am news
Today was the first day that I thought to look at the newscast. It is a good thing that Melanie Shafer and Marina Jurica are available to bail this thing out.
The new guy that WSAZ hired for this thing is weak at best. Looks like he is right out of J-school with a smirk on his face all the time. I assume that the management wanted this kind of presentation for the news, but I can't figure out why. The new guy, Chris Olsen, also has a strange haircut/hairdoo.
Really strange. Punk or urban or something. I can't imagine Bos would approve.

The new news director seems to like to hire young guys to replace older, competent people. I suspect as Gray TV needs more and more money from the stations, more veterans will leave and channel 3 news will consist of former cartooners.

It is odd, really. A double-standard applies here. They have me tuned in for the Amandas, the Jessicas, the Kallies, etc. But young guys, like that Whooten guy, just piss me off.genlock wrote:The new news director seems to like to hire young guys to replace older, competent people. Does anyone know if WSAZ's news ratings have decreased since losing so many verteran reporters and replacing them with the cast of 'THE HILLS" ?
My parents who have watched WSAZ news for 50 years now watch WOWK. They told me that swtiched since "all the young kids make so
many mistakes and dress so unprofessionally".
Chris Olsen is awful and screams the news at you, but when the
fifty 7am viewers start complaining, maybe management will
calm him down.

Sad, ain't it
Like WLWT-TV 5 in Cincy, used to be a power house of news.......
Now its, like WSAZ, nothing more than
Tonights news for kids, brought to you by kids
( and I do mean NO talent )
All the years of watching the best news from WSAZ, and NBC,
just for the crap that they spread on us now.
Genlock kind'a said, Bos has to be freaked out over the
overall deal of this kind of news operation

I gotta take up for the kid. Couple weeks ago I watched the extended online version of his interview with Ted Strickland. Serious, well-prepared, respectful but not afraid to push a little on follow up...I thought he did a good solid job.Big Media wrote:...But young guys, like that Whooten guy, just piss me off.
