If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Hey, they get a whole 10 watts pre-sunrise in April and 59 watts for 15 to 30 minutes post-sunset (except for May, June, and July)! There must be 5's of listeners that could be served!
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Someone stated a few Posts back that WPDX was once owned by the Local Newspaper...I do not recall that...I can remember as far back as the Late 60's when it was owned by Continental Communications with Jim Reese as GM...Then in the Mid 70's Rau Radio Stations of DC bought it with Walker Trumble becoming GM. and Mike King PD..The next owner was WPDX,Inc. around 1987..This was sort of a Partnership between Walker and Rau Accountant Pat Kelly...In the Early 90's,they sold to Tschudy who has it today..I recall WPDX -AM getting 40 Watts Pre and Post Sunrise in the Late 80's...It covered the Clarksburg City Limits but you could hear WSB Atlanta Underneath.

Ah...I shouldnt say anything dare me getting bitched out to an all new high. But I am going to anyhow...

When Coshocton owned WDCI, there were talks to change it to MIX 104.1, THE BEST MIX OF THE 90'S and TODAY. But there was an offer on the table from Withers and the format flip hence never happened.

I think some form of CHR (either it be Rhythmic or Adult) would rip the market up for Nick.

Best of luck to him!

I submitted a proposal for the format.

I did a logo, sample playlist, sample clock, cost analysis.. You name it.

If the image doesn't show, I'm temporarily FARKed by WV radio message board. I cut the image down to a smaller size to slow down the bandwidth suck.
Geocities free and all..

My guestimate book trends were right on par with the consultant's, which look to be good if you don't mind waiting for the 3rd or 4th book. The format they seem to have decided on may not peak as high 12+, but has a more approachable sales demographic immediately. In the end, staffing and promotional costs would kill the profit that they could make early with a station run more like 94 rock.

I'd hate to ruin the surprise.

Think of things that would help them cover as many desirable demos within the company as possible.

94rock covers men in a money spending/decision making demo.
101 should probably cover women in a money spending/decision making demo.

I am guessing something like the former Lite Rock 92.9 WLTJ... WLTJ changed a month or so ago to Q 92.9 The Best Music Mix which is like "The Fresh" format heard in NY and Chicago. Image

Don is right. The Exponent-Telegram never owned WPDX. The Highland family hated radio & TV so much that for many years they wouldn't allow program schedules to be placed their papers.

I remember fondly the days of broadcasting from the mezzanine of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel.

I say...Adult Hits "BOB FM". Hell, I dont know.

Coshocton hired a group to do a "small" research study, and it was shocking how well Hot AC came out.

Do you honestly think it would be something original? What Dial Global service can be plugged in at little or no cost? The rhythmic a/c service or how about their hot a/c service? Morgantown screams for a softer leaning a/c - but I can't see Fantasia actually PROGRAMMING the station. Best bet would be to simulcast the Jones service Kiss uses and enter into a LMA like WOBG used to do with WCLG when both used the ABC PURE GOLD service.

WVRC tried Adult hits both on 93.1 and 94.7 as "Sam" without much success..I don't see anyone going down that road again.
