And of the I-64/Teays Valley/Winfield exit unleaded is $1.13.9 today.

hmmm.... 7 miles from my house and gas is 40 cents cheaper per gallon than here in Philly.

Make that $2.13.9 in Putnam County.

And, yes, I use my Flying J Card consistently. I drive 60+ miles each way to work and spend hundreds each month on gasoline. I'll save every penny that I can. You have to take advantage of any discount possible.

85.9p in Glasgow Scotland.

(that's per litre and in sterling. A quick calculation reveals that 85.9p is around $1.53 per litre at an exchange rate of 1.8. One US gallon is 3.79 UK litres, making a gallon of gas around $5.79)

Gorda: Home of $5.20-A-Gallon Gasoline

GORDA, Calif. (AP) - Try not to run low on gas in the tiny Big Sur town of Gorda, where a gallon of unleaded regular costs $5.20. And it's $5.40 a gallon for premium.

Amerigo Gas Station employee James Willman says at least once a day he gets an earful from motorists who pull into Gorda, which is about 35 miles north of Cambria on scenic Highway 1.

Willman says "they say all kinds of stuff - 'You ought to be shot,' or 'Where's your mask?'"

The good-humored Willman usually responds, "Hey, I just work here."

Many potential customers slow down, look at the price, then keep on rolling.

Station manager Leo Flores says the high price reflects the cost of bringing fuel to the town's remote location as well as its reliance on a diesel generator for all of its power.

Over the weekend, I saw a bumper sticker which read: "When Bush took office, gas was $1.46 a gallon."

Also, on "Decision Makers" this weekend (yes, I do need a life), the head of a convenience store owners' association stated that if owners had their way, the number one item they would drop is gas." Owners allegedly get all of one percent of the total cost of a gallon of gasoline.

Keep the prices at at least $3.50 a gallon, then two things may happen:

a. Drill deeper in previously-drilled areas. Extreme western West Virginia could certainly benefit here.
b. Gasification of coal will happen. We should stay away from ethanol. Former wheat farmers are now raising corn, causing a shortage of wheat. BTW, sugar cane is so much more efficient in providing renewal fuel than is corn.

Me too. I remember hearing talk of $3.50 to $4.00/gallon last year and saying it would never happen.
