I was curious about whatever happened to WVTS... are they still simulcasting WQBE or are they back to talk?

Naw.. my co-host Pete Thaw is burned out on the thing. But that's fine with me because I'm spending (too much) time on my website and message board still fighting the power every day.

We get into lots of political crap etc. For instance, somehow the topic of Byrd came up (again) and I mentioned how I had his life in my hands once,
(That's me driving) You can imagine the comments THAT brought.

I was roped into carrying Robert Byrd in some patriotic parade downtown. How funny was that? A German car based on the WWII "Kubelwagen" used for troop transport during the war... used in a patriotic parade?

(this was "around" 1983, and the was a shortage of convertibles at that time)

I dated the photo at about 1979 or 1980, with all those square traffic lights, the boxy, squared shape of the automobile, the clothing, Byrd's helmet hair, an afro or two in the crowd, and the "Charleston National Bank" lettering on the building.

That sounds about right. As I think about it more... that white color on my car was factory. I had it repainted and re stripped to a more cream color around 1983. I was using the front license (my skydiving plate) as an estimate, but I believe you're closer. Here's another photo of my "Thing" Club taken about the same time:

Is this the right time to mention the occasion I called in to Jerry's show while on the way to work at the MIX, used a phony name and voice, and got Jerry to say that he saw nothing wrong with slavery?

By the way... this week I celebrate one year of being "laid off" at the station.
(That was the official word from the unemployment office)

As for WVTS, they just don't "sound" right. They distort pretty bad on my radio, while none of the other AMs do.
