UK to get PS3/Xbox 360 TV add-ons.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

UK to get PS3/Xbox 360 TV add-ons.

('freeview' is the multi-channel digital terrestrial system, btw)
As PlayStation 3 users eagerly await the arrival of the console's PlayTV freeview accessory, an online report has revealed more details of the device and its functionality.

The add-on unit, which is due for release this year, will connect to the PlayStation 3's USB port and features an aerial socket at the rear. Once running, the device promises an electronic programme guide and a 'well-designed menu system'.

Sony granted the BBC a first look at PlayTV and the corporation has revealed users will be able to record, pause and rewind live TV, while a built-in dual-tuner means viewers will be able to watch one channel while recording another.

PSP will also have access to Shoutcast via wi-fi soon.

The thing about the PS3 is that it's such a great machine, you are almost obligated to upgrade to a decent size HDTV to compliment it.

In December '06, I watched "Talladega Nights" in PS3 Blu-Ray on a 113" HD projector screen. The picture was just indescribable it was so clear...

But at the same time, I don't think i could be satisfied with a PS3 picture on anything less than a 32" HD screen, after witnessing its capabilities.

I'm still holding out...

Already does. Really freakin cool.

Hell the PSP has a camera feature. Just wish they bring it here to the states.

The new slim line PSP has Skype (?) usage.

And I have to say, I find it interesting that more and more movie studios are moving to Blu-Ray. And now Netflix and Best Buy have drop HD-DVD.
Could HD-DVD be the next Betamax?

It already is, after WB's Blu-exclusive decision. That's why the players are so cheap now.

Even Toshiba is looking to get out of this alliance.

I was bitterly disappointed by the PSP's internet radio. The fact that you're limited to the stations they give you and that there's no way to tell what station is next or to set favourites was a big blow. Nice idea, totally messed up method. There's supposed to be a developer's kit on the horizon.

Skype for the PSP has been put back in Japan because Sony and the headphone developers can't agree on quality. Supposably it's still full steam ahead for Europe and the US. Limited to the PSP slims, though. Which blows for people like me who use Skype extensively but have ye olde PSP.

I hear the camera is a sucky McSuckarrific 1 megapixel.

The last nail in the HD-DVD coffin. Wal-mart drops it.

Sounds like a personal problem you have Lee. Maybe you need to see a doctor?

I have one of those.....

Somehow, the internet spammers all seem to know I do, too. :?
