On September 21, 2007 a member of our Security Forces Squadron was injured in a rocket attack. Her name is Senior Airman Diane Lopes, and she was in the near vicinity of the rocket when it detonated. She was walking home from work and literally found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her primary injuries were to her hand and leg, both of which she kept. Her recovery is coming along nicely and with a good sense of humor.

Where is this going? As of this moment in time, she is scheduled to be Laura Bush's guest of honor at the State of the Union address on January 28th. Tune in and check it out, if you're so inclined.

(PS: I just found out about a second story going down here. One of our Airmen is rotating back to the states, and is being replaced by his mother. Good Morning America is supposed to run a story on it in the next couple of days.)
