Cable/Satellite channel name change

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Cable/Satellite channel name change

Post by David Paleg »

Court TV (locally in Charleston, Suddenfink channel 45), will be changing their name to TruTV starting January 1, with "all new programs and returning hits."

More details at their new site http://www.trutv.com.

Yeah, moving G4 really pissed me off. It would be different if they had moved by only a few channels, but they put the damned thing in no-man's land.

Maybe they did it to see if anyone noticed. I didn't think anybody watched that channel!

They air Star Trek: The Original Series. It's my one source for Capt. Kirk. Now everyone on this board knows my terrible secret. Thanks Spike!

My name is David, and I am a Trekkie. Image Live long and prosper.

Anyway, from an article on SciFi.com website back in September, here are some stations running classic Trek remastered version:

WEST VIRGINIA
Beckley WOAY Mon 2:00am
Charleston WSAZ Sun 11:35 pm
Clarksburg WVFX Sat 10:00 pm
Parkersburg WTAP-D3 Sun 8:00 pm
Wheeling WTOV Sun 1:00 am

OHIO
Cincinnati WCPO Sun 1:35 am
Cleveland WBNX Sun 4:00 am
Columbus WSYX Sun 2:00 pm
Dayton WDTN Sun 1:05 am
Lima WLQP Sun 10:00 am
Toledo WUPW Sun 12:00 am
Youngstown WYFX Mon 1:00 am
Zanesville WHIZ Mon 6:00 am

As usual, stations mistakenly believe that they have the right to change schedules at the last moment without notice.

ok, now that David has outted himself... i've just discovered (read:become interested in) star trek in the last few years. it actually started with "Enterprise". it was a new show at the time, i checked it out and got hooked. (t'pol kinda helped that along..perv) but since then, i picked up on reruns of TNG and voyager on spike and really dig it... don't really see why trekkies dis voyager though i kinda like it... but, i still to this day can't sit through more than 5-10 minutes of an episode of the original series. (no offense to the die hard trekkies... put your phasers away)

i don't know, i think it's the depth of the stories in the more recent series'... the original series seems, to me, to be more about who kirk was going to hook up with.

sorry for the complete threadjack......

actually no, a friend of mine came up with in in 89'. i didn't know the other guy existed til i worked with a guy named buzz casey in roanoke. buzz made it a point to track me down on my first day, only to say "you're not zakk" as soon as he saw me. so, at that point i found out i wasn't alone... but every market i've been in at least one listener has called on the request line asking if i was that guy. so, i end up pointing them to his website or current station website. i've even had reps call me up and instantly go into reminiscing mode before confirming i was the right guy... heard some interesting stories that way though :) it was a lot less confusing when i wasn't in the "rock" world. but it seems he's segueing out of the rock world now (kinda) so maybe there won't be much confusion anymore

So that's what lead to the demise of the old WLOG....stolen coffee mugs!!

I have been told there is another Dave Allen that works p/t in Charleston. I'm sure with a generic name like "Dave Allen" there are thousands more. Hey, I didn''t choose it. It was given to me.

He was also on the old WCAW back when the station was in Kanawha City over Rite Aid on MacCorkle.

Is this a Clay JD Walker thing you wouldn't understand?

What does Kirtner have to do with with this.

Why would you give any type of credit to Kirtner? I can see giving props to the like of Jay Nunley, Eric McGuire or Scotty Martin. But not Kirtner.

And props always go to Bob Loblaw, aka Sir Pimps-a-lot and many other names since.
