I live in Bethlehem, have stinking comcast service. no NFL network package. Will I be able to watch game on KDKA? Channel 2. If not what bars get nfl package? Thanks!

I got hit in the head with an incense burner being changed by a Catholic service worker in Bethlehem. I got the NFL package for about 45 seconds, but then things returned to normal. Kinda like Laurie Partridge's braces...

I think WTAE (4) should have it on. The rule, and I might be wrong, is that a local station can carry it. Not really sure.

If you will remember the one Thursday Steelers game from last year (Cleveland, week 14), it was carried by whoever the local Pittsburgh affiliate is....which I believe was KDKA last year, due to the fact that the Fairmont cable system had to switch over from the "filler" programming that was normally scheduled on 2 to allow KDKA to come back on the system.

As a matter of fact, you can probably search this very website to find a similar discussion just like this one from last season...

The Steelers-Rams game at 8:15 p.m. tomorrow will be televised on the NFL Network and on KDKA in the Pittsburgh Dedicated Market Area, but it might not be available in Somerset and Bedford counties and some areas of West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland.

Cable viewers who don't have the NFL Network can still pick up the game on KDKA in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Venango, Washington and Westmoreland counties, along with Monongalia and Preston counties in West Virginia and Garrett County in Maryland.

KDKA is carried on other cable companies outside of those areas (Steuporville, Bethlehem, Gaza Strip aka Wheeling) but those outlets are required to black out the game under the NFL's TV policy. Those who can get KDKA's signal via antenna will not be affected, regardless of market area.

KDKA and the Steelers say the decisions are not theirs but are NFL policy.

The game is available to subscribers of DirecTV and the Dish Network, which carry the NFL Network as part of their service.

I have the NFL package from DirecTv which includes the NFL Network. I have to admit, though, I'm not overly impressed with it. Keep in mind this is coming from the biggest NFL geek in the world

Same here. I've never really watched it, either.

I just want the games... I could care less about watching classic Ice Bowl footage.

...which, of course, they would have to get from you.....

...probably at at least a rate of 120% just to cover their costs of getting it from you.....

I firmly believe the "extortion" model demonstrates a complete lack of confidence in the product....by demanding "it's in the typical package, and all pay for it all the time," these networks try like heck to avoid the obvious -- game you want to see comes up, "I'd like to add the Extortion Sports Network, please," see game, "I'd like to cancel the Extortion Sports Network, please."

As I also work for Suddenlink in New Martinsville, WV ... we have been told in our area it will be on KDKA and not blacked out. Think it has to do with our system having KDKA for many, many, years on our system. Not the best reception at times as it is an over-the-air channel. I think they are Grandfathered in our system and why no black out. However, in a suddenlink system to the west in Woodsfield, OH it will be blacked out. Also to the Parkersburg area. The NFL channel was offered a free channel on Suddenlink systems. They could set the price. Suddenlink would not receive any money from the channel or advertising money. The reply from the NFL Network. NO. Suddenlink will not put the NFL channel on our expanded basic channel were (some) aunt Ethel's could care less about 8 games, and have her cable bill go up even more. Because anyone who does not have just basic only, would have to pony up money for the channel wether they wanted to or not. We would have put them in a sports tier on digital and let customer's who wanted to receive it pay for the channel.
As to the person in the wheeling area, you should contact Comcast to see if "they" have to black out the game or not. As a last resort put up an antenna as see if you can pull in KDKA.... or do as Arp says. "Pay the Man" Direct TV and the NFL NETWORK. (well maybe he didn't say that, but think he might agree.)

I checked my Comcast, Viewing Guide this morning 12-20-07. The game is there on KDKA @ 8pm. The latest news release states Comcast will carry the game to all of its customers who receive KDKA-TV as part of their channel lineup. Thanks to all who wrote relevant replies and stayed on topic!

I liked the old NFL films stuff with John Facenda as the "Voice of God".
He was also an anchor for KYW-TV, I think.
Million dollar voice. Probably brought a lot of ratings for the TV station cause of his pipes.
