Snyder on the hot seat?

I keep seeing these lists of coaches on the "hot seat" (i.e. about to lose their jobs). And I keep seeing Mark Snyder's name on there. I don't feel that way, I think he'll get a chance to get all his kids in there and see what they can do. He also mentioned Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, who said "Am I condemning the crew? Hell, yeah, I'm condemning the crew." after his TTU guys got an official from Austin in the Texas-TTU game. Kudos to that guy for bringing it up -- I was at a high school game, and I saw an official that I knew sitting in the stands, and I asked him what game he had, and asked him why he was there so early. Because he had kids just in the school system, not in the high school (I think he said his oldest was 9), it disqualified him from officiating their games. Personally, I thought he was a good official too, and from talking to him in street clothes, not the kind of person who would screw a team for any reason. Mr. Leach will be writing a check to the conference soon, I'm sure.

Anyway, do you think Mark S. is on the hot seat? I don't, not yet anyway, and not after pulling off an upset this past weekend. But how long do the people in Huntington put up with a losing team at the corner of 3rd and 20th? Does Mark get an extra bit of time because he's a former Marshall player? I think he has two years left, and I think one of those years is because of his pedigree. I think the next time Marshall wants a new coach, they'll do it at the right time and avoid another Pruett debacle.

While I agree that he's really in no danger (yet). Still, you can't go from dominating your conference, wining championships and bowl games with Pruitt, to 2 and 10 (or however abysmal our record ends) with Snyder without at least a mention of "the hot seat".

I say he has at least one, if not two, more seasons to pull the program out of the gutter before he gets shit-canned. But then again, coaches have been fired for 5 and 6. Go figure.

I don't think he is going anywhere for a couple of years. I think Marshall likes having "locals" in both major head coaching postitions. A great number of the boosters, though, especially the ones who sponsor the games with us, are really down on him, though.

I agree...he's not on the hot seat...he has to get his recruiting classes in there and so far, the kids he's brought in look pretty good....
