Lincoln County Schools Asessment
WOWK website:
HAMLIN -- First Lady Gayle Manchin and West Virginia's Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Paine are expected to be in Lincoln County Tuesday night for what some are calling damage control.
Earlier this month, Dr. Kenna Seal, the director of the Office of Education Performance Audits, told a group of Lincoln County educators that students there were not doing well on performance tests.
He was quoted in a local newspaper as saying that is because Lincoln County residents are "four-wheel riding, dope smoking, alcoholic rednecks,"

Yes, I have been to McDowell County, more than a few times. I'm aware that it's the most fucked up county in southern West Virginia - God help them. A friend of mine, a physician, worked at a clinic in Welch in the early 90s. How's the chip doing?
I'm sorry but as a West Virginia resident for about half my life, albeit in Wood & Mason counties, I get awfully damn tired of people defending the indefensible and assuming that nobody who doesn't live there can grasp that reality. Maybe, just maybe, some of this shit is more obvious from a distance?

For the most part, this is correct. However, there are exceptions. A good rule of thumb is the 10/3/34 rule. If you live more than 3 miles from either route 10, 3, or 34, or if you live anywhere along route 37, chances are you are a four-wheeling, dope smoking, alcoholic redneck and so is your mother. Also, if the name of your road ends with the word Mile, you are a four-wheeling, dope smoking, alcoholic redneck and so is your mother. He was quoted in a local newspaper as saying that is because Lincoln County residents are "four-wheel riding, dope smoking, alcoholic rednecks,"

Just to fuck up what people think they know about a region....I'm from Logan County, I don't hunt or fish, I don't own a gun, I don't drive a truck (used to but not now), I don't ride ATV's, I'm anti-war, against prayer in school, pro-choice and don't hate gay people or blacks.
So there.
So there.
Titties and beer...thank God almighty for titties and beer!

Not Mayberry.
"Home" is the second episode of season four of The X-Files. A Newborn's corpse is found in a shallow grave with a large number of birth defects. Mulder and Scully travel to the rustic small town of Home, Pennsylvania, where they find evidence of an unspeakable crime. Three brothers who live on their family farm are the products of a century of constant inbreeding by their family in an attempt to remain 'pure'. With no other suitable female, they have amputated all the limbs off their own mother and are attempting to father new children with her. In the end two of them are killed while the third escapes with his mother. The final scene implies that in the night, on the road, the son dutifully carries out what he may feel is his duty to keep the family line going.
[edit] Trivia
This is the only X-Files episode to garner a TV-MA rating due to references to incest, and was banned from Fox Broadcasting Company, only re-aired on syndication. [citation needed]
The song playing on the car radio during the Peacock's killing spree and at the end of the episode is "Wonderful! Wonderful!," a song originally sung by Johnny Mathis but covered here by a sound-alike.
Mrs. Peacock has a southern accent and refers to the U.S. Civil War as the War of Northern Aggression, despite her family's living in Pennsylvania, a Northern State during the war.
Mulder jokingly refers to Deputy Barney Paster as Deputy Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith Show, in which Andy Griffith plays a sheriff named, as is the one in this episode, Andy Taylor.
They did mention 119 south of Pittsburgh.
So I'm thinking somewhere like Mud Fork.

Well ... if your sister ain't also your mother, and if your eyes are more than an inch apart, and if you don't have a Unibrow, and if you don't have yourself one of them Neanderthal-style three story foreheads ... then you don't belong in MACDowell County either.daveinthemorning wrote:Just to fuck up what people think they know about a region....I'm from Logan County, I don't hunt or fish, I don't own a gun, I don't drive a truck (used to but not now), I don't ride ATV's, I'm anti-war, against prayer in school, pro-choice and don't hate gay people or blacks.
