Led Zeppelin set for reunion gig in London

Legendary rock band broke up in 1980; no tour â€” just one show planned

LONDON - Rock legends Led Zeppelin were set to announce a one-off comeback concert on Wednesday nearly three decades after disbanding.

The group split in 1980 after the death of drummer John Bonham and have performed only a handful of reunion gigs, last taking the stage 12 years ago at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Music Web site NME.com reported the show will be held in November in London.

Bonhamâ€™s son Jason is expected to wield the drum sticks for the band known to many fans simply as Zep.

Rounding out Led Zeppelin, rated the best ever hard-rock band by U.S. channel VH1, would be its classic founding trio of singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones.

NME.com said it would be a one-off show, not a full-fledged reunion tour.

Plant and Page have joined forces over the years, notably on an album in 1994, but Jones has been more distant. When Bonham passed away after a long battle with alcoholism, his bandmates said Led Zeppelin, formed in 1968, had died with him.

November is the scheduled release month for a greatest hits collection from the band.

The reunion gig is slated for Londonâ€™s 02 Arena, which has a capacity of 20,000.

Zeppelin is the only band I would pay major bucks to see. Maybe that concert's in London, Ohio? Kentucky?

I just hope that it is a better show than when they got back together for Atlantic Records Birthday Party..

They were TERRIBLE that night...

But tickets are ONLY $254 Each, so it's all good.. I think...

Led Zeppelin Rises Again

Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones will regroup as Led Zeppelin for a special one night only performance November 26 at The O2 in London as part of a tribute to Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun.
Filling the seat behind the drum kit will be Jason Bonham, son of the band's original drummer, the late John Bonham.
Also on the bill for the evening are The Who's Pete Townshend, ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini.
Tickets for the show, which are Â£125 ($254), go on sale today and will be allocated by means of a lottery system through www.ahmettribute.com.
Proceeds from the show will benefit the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund, an organization which provides scholarships to universities in the U.S., U.K. and Turkey, Ertegun's birthplace.

I'd rather go see Paramore and watch Hayley sing her ass off, among other things...

I love Zeppelin and all they've done for rock. But besides the price, I just can't get all excited for a blue moon appearance. I've seen Robert Plant solo and he alone put on a great show.

It's not worth $254. Sorry.

Yay for Paramore, a band out of the (south) Nashville area trying their best to climb the ladder.

And while the ticket prices are high (and scalper rates will likely be outrageous), that Zeppelin show would be a very interesting one to see in person...

While I'm unfamiliar with Paramore, I hope they're great. But Zep is a once in a lifetime band that changed the face of rock n roll.
If thirty years from now, we're slobbering over a Paramore reunion show, I'll give you a dollar.

Paramore is getting airplay on Sirius' Alt Nation. Who knows what the future holds for the band, but they're on Atlantic Records and have a song (Misery Business) that could end up being a modern rock breakthrough track.

Let's see... Paramore v. Zeppelin...

That wasn't really my intention to compare them directly. Zeppelin's hard to top in musical greatness. As I said, I have seen Robert Plant in concert and owned the remastered box set at one time. So I know their music well. Going to California is probably my favorite... There's a track without much burn on it.

But all else being equal, a Paramore show would likely cost much less, and still entertain. Which is why I'd choose them, young hotties everywhere notwithstanding...

Misery Business is a great alternative track. If you watch the video, you'll see why she's holding implants...
