Birthday

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

What the hell brought this on? We're not supposed to actually post show prep here. Are we?

Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?

I used to hear celebrity birthday bits all the time on gay formats, but haven't heard one in a long time. I listen to radio a lot, so I'm surprised those are still being done. Am I just missing them by pure luck? I figured they had been replaced by "whore report" bits about Hilton/Spears/Lohan.

That might be a good thread. Are there still quasi-universal bits or features? I know you can find football and NASCAR bits on most Rock stations and probably most Country stations too.

If you're talking to chicks on one of Nunley's gay formats, you have to do the the celebrity gossip bit with birthdays too. See "Entertainment Tonight" et al.
Hey, don't Bob and Tom do that bit too?

What's next? A "Today in History" thread?

By the way, those who DIED on August 25 include Truman Capote, Gower Champion, John Ray Dunning, Niven Busch, Sylvia Fisher, Stan Kenton, Alfred C Kinsey, Paul Muni, Jack Nitzschke, and George Washington Pierce (inventor, a pioneer in radiotelephony and a noted teacher of communication engineering).

They do the whore report. I haven't heard them do birthdays. Do you guys still use that Beatles birthday song when you do a birthday bit or is that out of style? I do still hear the Entertainment Tonight theme on the whore report a lot.

Even in Oldies we don't use Birthday any more. We use the theme from "Pee Wee's Big Adventure".
