Mine must be a swim score because some of the listings this website said were nearby would require me to swim the Ohio River.

According to the site, I should walk to either the coffee shop in Barboursville (nearly 3 miles), or the Steak Escape by MU. Kind of defeats the purpose of walking, doesn't it?

I scored 40, but it listed a deli that's been closed for more than three years. Take out of that what you will. And also bear in mind that I live on the west side, so walking is not an option for a guy who isn't armed.

My home received a 23, but most of the places listed involve walking across a rather busy road with no sidewalk. Walking from place to place can be convenient at times (I used to do it all the time when I was in Tampa) but not so much here in the outskirts of Nashville.

First of all, FEAR GOOGLE! I entered only my street (no house number), but Google Maps centered the map and placed that house icon right on me!

Second, I learned there's a library less than a mile from me. Unknown to this site is that I'd have to walk through/across several busy roads and a highway, a body of water, solid barriers, two fences, a thick line of trees, two thick lines of brush, and a government building. In reality, it's about five miles away.

There are many, many more problems with "my score," but I won't detail them. What I wanted to note is that this has very little to do with walking...note this:

That's just bull. This is a political movement, not a "walking" movement.

Leftists the world over know this -- people in low- and moderate-density living don't need or want state control and often possess and can hide the means to resist it, and a mobile population can escape them. Liberals always want high-density living and people without their own means of transportation because those people are then easily controlled, and that's what this "new urban" movement is all about.

I got a 62 because there are several restaurants, a 24-hour pharmacy, a convenience store, laundromat, bookstore, and several other categories all within three to six blocks. But the movie theater listed was way off on the mileage.

68 in the 'hood. Walking distance to two museums, library, downtown shops and restaurants in good old Marietta. I usually drive.

Google is unable to accurately locate my town. On the first try it placed West Hamlin along the South Dakota / Minnesota boarder.

On the second try it placed West Hamlin outside of Oklahoma City Oklahoma.

After Google finally figured out where West Hamlin is, it has a score of 9.

Must not be too accurate down here in Hooterville. If you guys know anything at all about Logan (Zak, Genlock, Cameron, Nunley, etc) Workman's IGA in Chapmanville is a hell of a lot longer than two miles from my house in Justice Addition.
