Table Games Vote Coverage

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Ceramic ducks are cool.
Are these the ones that are not painted?
Art is where you find it.

I hosted the talent show portion. We did the live broadcast thing throughout the weekend. BTW for those that like salsa and other spicy things, there was a booth there from Duck's. They are from Jackson County WV. Great salsas and that kind of stuff. Its made in WV (well shit eat it anyway) and is available at many stores in the area. Good stuff, and I'm not just saying that because they loaded me down with free jars of it.
Titties and beer...thank God almighty for titties and beer!

Leave it to this area to try and dissuade the 21st century and all it's magical talking picture boxes and strange phones without wires that people can actually carry in their pocket from having any sort of economic boost that means more jobs which means more money in the holy rollers' collection plate.
That's just it... The long-term outlook for WV currently has economic disaster written all over it. Corporate America isn't exactly lining up to bring us good peoples a bunch of good jobs, either.

We can't afford to pick and choose at this point in time. We need to take whatever we can get.

And the anti-gambling crowd has no better suggestions, either.
Not everyone wants to work in a Wal-Mart or a mine.

Werd.
So...hmmm....it's ok for the WVA to have a state lottery and bingo for the plethora of churches, but table games? That's the debil!
I've thought about that, too...

Whoever complains about a speck of dust in a brother's eye should first remove the plank from his own, or something like that...

Also, we need to keep in mind the type of people this complex will mostly attract: rich people with money to spend, who want to gamble and can afford it.

The anti-gambling crowd wants to paint a picture of these complexes being magnets for hopeless poor people who will lose everything and be begging in the streets and mugging people everywhere. The crime rate may slightly increase, but the extra revenue going into the county's coffers should offset any increase in crime. This is already a huge problem for most of WV: There's not enough resources to combat existing crime, due mostly to lack of economic activity, which this complex will help bring more of to the area.

Anyone who thinks orginized crime isn't here or is new to this place has been hiding under a rock for the last three decades.

And for the "church" crowd....how is it wrong to add table games to an existing business and OK to fight chickens and dogs and bet on your kid's high school game or play bingo at the VFW or church basement??

And another thing. If gambeling is legal, it should be legal in all countys not just the "rich" ones. And gambeling is gambeling. There is no difference between what you bet on or where you do it.

How about a reality check here!

I have no problem with establishing very nice, well-run casinos such as what they are planning to build in Cross Lanes. I like the idea of having it central to one or two locations rather than the hole-in-the-wall-blacked-out-windows places you have scattered all over town in every county.

I would like to see the legislature do away with those video machines in those "hole in the wall" parlors and just have them at the track.

I even believe that would lower the number of "gamblers" that spend their paychecks trying to hit the big one....at least a little.
